Personally, there's no need for an apology. I prefer it when those who insult me do not subsequently address me as "dear" - it's so much less hypocritical that way.
what do you find personally insulting about any of what mark wrote? Personally, I didn't take it personally, so why would you? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

That was me, and it wasn't much more than simply returning an insult in kind. I hope you didn't sprain your brain looking for deeper meaning.
No I didn't; a big alarm bell went off and it seemed to make sense. The only thing that could confirm my deduction was a show of honesty. thanks! Didn't want to put you up for show- left the name out on purpose.

No&gt; you get one for being cool, impersonal and tolerant of fools

I wasn't aware that your take on the matter was one that everyone else should follow.

sorry, I'm currently struggling with argumentum ad hominum, and wondering if this qualifies as one, and what you intentions are, and if you did take any of it personally, and why?

Mark,

I have to agree, in part, with the complaints levelled against your approach. You cannot expect to simply quote biblical text with no explanation of (1) how it addresses a particular matter, or (2) why it is believable.

Let me would encourage you to be critical of what you hold to be true. While you are correct in charging naturalists with holding some unsubstantiated beliefs, it would appear that you are doing the same.

Let's suppose a belief that I maintain is true. If I am unable to support it with reasonable facts, then it amounts to nothing more than a guess. It is not authentic (nor honest) knowledge.

Think about it: We must not believe simply because it "feels good". A man or woman is only JUSTIFIED in believing that which represents the truth, and has been fully tested.

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect...

This is perhaps a bit off topic, but, if I understand correctly, this verse isn't suggesting that one make haste and get the hell out of Dodge if his message is rejected; rather, when one does get around to leaving, he should shake the dust of that town off of his feet as a parting insult to that community.

Any biblical scholars know if this is the case?

Other than that, the rest of your post was just a whiny attempt to make yourself feel better about getting your butt handed to you on a platter.

Actually, sweep, there are many agnostics and atheists here who are quite happy to discuss the existence of God. There are even some of us who get into extended conversations on the subject.

The problem is, people like Mark have no interest in conversation, and above all no interest in supporting their own beliefs or assertions. They're here to provide the [thunder and lightning]TRUTH[/thunder and lightning] but without expanding a little bit on what they believe the truth to be, and why, they're not going to get very far. Why should we take such people any more seriously than my kooky uncle who insists that leprechauns are out to get him?

It's not often a goodbye thread gets moved to RRP.

You don't have to run off, Mark. Lurk a bit, figure out why we believe what we do. Then ask questions. I doubt very many here are atheists because they are unfamiliar with the Bible.
