Post (Finally) Some News Articles About GAMOW

Washington Post: <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A59379-2002Nov2.html" target="_blank">March of the Godless Takes to the Mall</a>

Washington Times: <a href="http://www.washtimes.com/metro/20021103-51797129.htm" target="_blank">Nonbelievers march on Mall</a>

(As would be expected from Rev. Moon's newspaper, not a positive approach.)

Peoria Journal Star: <a href="http://www.pjstar.com/news/local/g109000a.html" target="_blank">Peorian joins 2,400 other atheists in D.C. march</a>

Daily Illini (Illinois State U.): <a href="http://www.dailyillini.com/nov02/nov06/news/stories/news_story07.shtml" target="_blank">University students participate in 'godless' march</a>

I will update this thread as I find more articles. (I cc'ed all these to the Wire.)

In response to the Times article, someone named "Judith Anne" at Free Republic (a right-wing, fundy website) posted this:

Quote:
How much of the mall stores' business is in Thanksgiving and Christmas sales? How badly do they want that business? I'm betting that the merchants, out of self-preservation, will get the kibosh put on these demonstrators....I certainly won't shop and spend my usual wad where these folks are in my face; I'd rather go where the kids are carolling and Christmas music is playing.
Someone else then said:

Quote:
Uh...Judith? The Washington Mall isn't a shopping mall. It's where the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, National Aquarium, a host of government run museums etc etc, can be found.
Is that priceless or what?

ROTFLMAO again!!!

Godless Americans -- hanging out by the food court, reading shoplifted playboys, and getting hastled by the security guards.

Well, gosh... if I'd known he was the only one going i would have gone too. But they probably would have ID'd me as being from C-U instead. Did this guy call the paper to say he was going?

And it really bugs me that they brought up the Washington commencement flap again; the suit was filed by a Catholic.

2,400 at the Mall is a small sneeze in D.C. political rally terms. Not likely to find much coverage of it.
