Is she really that far gone?
Last week my husband's truck was in the shop, so he borrowed my mother's car for a day. She has been sliding down the slippery fundy slope for a while now, but he & I were both dumbfounded by this: He had a few cd's with him when I took him over to her house to get her car. She said to him, "I've got some tapes in there that you can listen to, too." We stay for a few minutes, chitchatting, thank her for the use of the car, & leave. We get back to our house, & he calls me over to my mother's car. In his hands he has 4 cassette tapes. One of them is called Classic Hymns & is nothing but well-known hymns being played on a pipe organ. The other 3 are pretty much the same. We have never told her that we are atheists, but even so, we don't go to church, & we just can't believe that she would think he would have any interest in listening to that awful stuff. I could just weep when I realize how I am losing my mother little by little.

Sorry I can't offer much in the way of advice. I know my mom is not too rationale on the subject so there's little I could say to change her mind. |
