Dear xBobTheAlienx et al
Light, OK?
I just want to know: how did god create light BEFORE he created the sun and the stars? |

Oh honestly! God created light, photons etc. It didn’t have to come from anywhere! Even if it did, it would emanate (as does everything) from the Lord himself. Only later did he provide the ‘lights’ in the sky as our main source of photons. Get it?

Hm. I fear that we may have lost xBob. A pity. I was still holding out hopes for him. Perhaps he's taken some advice and gone to RRP.
Coincedently, just the other day, I laid that very question on my son-in-law, who is a Christian, but a not too serious one. I like to jack him up, once in a while. Keeps him from getting too complacent. Thus far, I've recieved no satisfactory answer. I suspect that you will not, either. But wishing luck, doov |

It didn't say "God created light in the sky" it said "...and there was light". God just made light possible, he didn't actually bring any into existence. This of course explains all the other Genesis problems.

----------------------------- I see. And exactly how did you come to this conclusion? Is there any documentation to support it? doov |

"Doov, what more evidence do you need -- it's in the Bible, innit?"
------------------------ It is indeed. Therefore, it follows that I could pick up an Aztec text (the Aztecs were prolific writers and very devout), get behind a pulpit, wave my arms and shout that Lord Quetzacoatl had placed the sun in the sky, the moon in the night, and the roachs under your kitchen sink. Would I not deserve the same credibility? doov |

Now you’re just being silly. The Bible is the inspired word of God. I’m sure it says so. Does it not have much on the matter of false gods? Show me where your Quetzacoatl or whatever claimed the error of following false gods! The Aztecs wouldn’t make such a claim, bcause they knew in their heart of hearts they were following them! The Bible is the Truth, the rest are pale imitations (eg all that dying-and-rising god stuff, Dionysus, Eleusis, Osiris etc) or the work of the devil. I’m not sure how you tell the difference; either way, the Bible is the the One True Way.

Not silly at all. One god's just as good or as bad, or as false as any other.
And if the Aztec "knew in their hearts" that they were worshiping a "false god", one would think that they would change their ways. Please demonstrate that "God" is any more real than Quetzacoatl. I am also interested in how differing religions are the "work of the devil", another being for which there exists no proof except in various religious works including the Q'ran. I too, am sure that the bible says that it is the "inspired word of God", and you can't get much more circular that that. How is Christianity the "One True Way'? It seems the Aztecs were doing pretty well for themselves until the Catholic pirate Cortez showed up. doov |
