I was referring to the use of the new qualifier FOR HIS TIME, never before used in these parts, far as I know.

I've been out of town and busy with my thesis so I'm a little late:

Quote:
Amazing how the Christian kids, or all races, behave compared to the ones in secular schools. From reading this site, you might think they invented little games like "Slave Trader" or "Spanish Inquistion"
Compare the secular private schools in my home region to the Christian private schools and your statement is reversed. Public schools are a different story but faith isn’t going to repair the public schools. The only thing that is going to fix the public schools is discipline and personal accountability.

Quote:
Strict rules. Sure consequences. Calling a sin a sin, while you love the sinner unconditionally. Plenty of forgiveness and mercy when the kid stops. Call it God's "velvet lined steel box." Works every time.
Strict rules with consequences do instill good behavior but the consequences need to be contemporary. Most of the well behaved people I know behave well because of the consequences for them and their associates now in this life, not because of fear of hell. I know very few atheists so this observation applies to my Christian acquaintances.

Quote:
I'm saying the Christian schools are free of drugs, poor study habits and test scores, violence, gangs, grafitti, bullies, oral sex, and kids who defy authority, because when the kids don't follow the rules, they get their butts suspended or kicked out. If the public schools would stop testing new humanist theories and do the same, they would do almost as well.
I went to Episcopal, Lutheran, and Catholic schools. Care to restate that because it’s a load of it. There are plenty of misfit kids in Christian schools. The common thread was always that the misfits were spoiled. Some of the worst behaved kids in my high school were the most spiritual. Kids learn how to behave from mom and dad.

I also add that private schools (secular and religious) are usually (but not always)better because they get to pick and choose prospective students and kick out disruptions. Additionally, parents that send kids to private schools tend to have a vested interest in their kid's education and development and this extra involvement tends to result in better behaved kids.

In my home region the top performing schools are all secular private. My Catholic high school was good, far better than public schools, but the time wasted on theology and spirituality left us a step behind the secular academies. The worst performing (worse than public in behavior and academic performance) schools were the ones run by the Free Will Baptists and Assembly of God sects. Kids from the Baptist school were lucky to get into community college or BOJO.
