So far....I've never seen any of these types of women in church, but then again....maybe I've just gone to the wrong churches. Most Christian women I know seem to just have a bad attitude about them all the time (like when you smile and say "hi" to them... they think you're hitting on them) . Of course, they could just be pissed about all this permissive crap they're expected to live by.

In Alice in Wonderland, the Cheshire Cat asks "Can you stand on your head?" while quite literally standing on his head.

I like that and the dope-smoking caterpillar the best.

1 Timothy 2:8-15:

Quote:
I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women [or she] will be saved [or restored] through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
1 Corinthians 14:33-35:
Quote:
For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

er, buttercup.... are you female?

If so, please consider what you have read. You very attempts to preach to others constitutes "teaching" and also "speaking in a church" which is any gathering to discuss or spread the word, eh?

You have some repenting to do. Better just read quietly and ask questions of your husband.

Well, she's not married yet, but Jacey's working on her.

Jacey, she does sound sweet, and I'm picturing this delicate "Amy Grant" looking little flower, but you're gonna have to brush up on the Bible......

PS - I guess I'll have to watch Alice again next time my daughter throws it in the VCR.

Awww, he doesn't have to brush up on the bible, 'cause she's not allowed to question him! He can say anything he wants and she has to, er, swallow it - hook, line and sinker. Bible says she has to.

Neat system, huh? D'you suppose it was thought up by, er, MEN?

Christian mockery aside ... I think I'll help buttercup out a little.

If we were all omniscient, I'm sure there wouldn't be a need for rules. You follow?

Why would there be no need for rules? Even in a society of omniscient people, there will be disagreements. Unless you are saying that along with omniscience, all these people have the same personality and codes of ethics?
