Post Ohio BoE - Intelligent Design debate

Just thought I'd pass along that the Ohio Board of Education approved the science standards for students today. (the debate for this has been going on several months now)
Intelligent Design is not included and can not be on the proficiency tests.

The creationists did get one small item added to the standards:

Quote:
"Describe how
scientists critically analyze aspects of evolutionary theory."
This isn't as bad as it could be though. That statement was amended (with no opposition if you can believe it) with:
Quote:
The intent of this indicator does not mandate the teaching or
testing of Intelligent Design.
Basically, this is a huge victory for science in Ohio. Evolution is still part of the standards and Intelligent Design is specifically excluded.

Strange. The Discovery Institute "Fellows" are positively jubilant:

Quote:
Calling this provision in Ohio's science standards "historic," Dr. Stephen C. Meyer, director of Discovery Institute's Center for Science and Culture, noted that "Ohio has become the first state to require students to learn about scientific criticisms of Darwinian evolution as well as scientific evidence supporting the theory. This represents an important milestone in the effort to ensure that students learn the full range of relevant scientific evidence. This policy will help remedy the selective presentation of evidence made by most biology textbooks today."

discovery.org must be another "No Spin Zone."

My guess would be that scientists "continue to investigate and critically analyze aspects of evolutionary theory" because ... um ... because it's their job?

That's funny since I don't see "criticisms" written anywhere in there?
