Post Bible Belt Editorial Highlights

<a href="http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/opinion/0602/18equal.html" target="_blank">The Way and the Truth</a>

This article has probably already been seen by most but I've been a tad out of the loop so it's new to me. I've snipped two paragraphs to comment on. If that is beyond fair use, please edit appropriately or request that I should.

The highlights:
Quote:
The fact of the matter is, the one the Muslims call Allah is vastly different from the God that Christians worship. The God that Christians worship is a God of love, mercy and grace who has already provided for eternal life through the death and resurrection of his Son. Islam, like all other religions, is a religion of works and fear.
Has this guy read his bible? This was definitely the humor section.

Quote:
...But the one truth that every Muslim must confront -- indeed every human being must confront -- is this truth --that Jesus Christ himself said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Me." This statement was made by a man in whom anyone has yet to find any sin.
I hear ya talkin bubba... I guess he isn't bothered by the fact that the fact of Jesus' existence is debatable. Likewise, I guess he isn't bothered by all of the psychopaths that have, over the millennia, made very similar assertions and would be claimed to be perfect by their devotees.

As for Jesus not sinning... We have only non-eye-witness accounts that often used one another as sources. The legend of Jesus is sinless. That the man, if he truely existed, was sinless we can't know from the few severely biased accounts of his life that have been selected by church promoters over the years.

Edited to add: I just looked at AJC's Faith/Values section. I could've sworn that I was at Landover Baptist...

And the one truth that every Christian must confront is this truth:
--that Mohammed himself said, "Are not!"

---------------------------------
Islam is a religion; Buddhism is a religion; Hinduism is a religion; Christianity is not a religion. It is a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ...."

Red face

Is this the latest fundie thing -- that their beliefs are not a "religion"? That they are therefore completely irreligious?
