Thanks to all. It didn't occur to me to cross out the IGWT crap on my paper money. The bill tracking website is cool too.

I think blacking out just the word god makes the point much clearer, otherwise they may think you don't like having a motto at all. Remember the assumption will be that you believe in god so that couldn't be the problem.

I bought a do-it-yourself stamp and made my own message that I stamp on every bill that goes in and out of my wallet. So, if you see:
"GET GOD OFF MONEY! IT VIOLATES SEPARATION OF STATE AND CHURCH!" on a bill, it has passed through my hands. I have yet to receive one that has had any correction on it at all. I particularly like to stamp and spend small bills, since I know the coffee shop and the smaller shops will turn them around immediately. Keep correcting that currency!! |

Great idea! I had never heard of it, but now all 12 bills in my wallet have a nice black mark through the word God!
One question, though, and I hope I don't sound too Prudence McPrudey, but this is illegal, right? So, I shouldn't for instance, go about showing everyone and discussing it? I think there is some law against vandalizing currency, so if questioned, would I want to feign ignorance? |

Good question, cheetah. I've seen lots of stuff written on money before. Profanity, phone numbers, "Jesus Saves", counting amounts, and so on. I doubt removing IGWT is any more illegal that those cases, and I've never heard of anyone ever being prosecuted for that. Then again I'm not a lawyer.

You know, if enough bills get corrected, there's bound to be some sort of government "crackdown".
Wanna try? |

Has anyone done any sort of computation as to the rate of IGWT-blackening required to keep a significant number of bills blackened? I wonder if the bank would let you withdrawl $200 in ones, correct them all, and then redeposit them. m. |
