Post Do catholics view ordained women as worse than paedophiles?

An excommunication decree has been signed by Cardinal Ratzinger against seven women who were ordained priests by a former archbishop, Romulo Braschi. The Vatican condemned the ordination as schismatic and said that it had wounded the church.

One of the women, Christine Mayr-Lumetzberger, complained that the women have been excommunicated although they did not commit any crime, while paedophile priests were just moved from one parish to another. She also pointed out that even Hitler was never excommunicated.

The question comes to my mind; "Why the hell would any of them or anyone else want to be a part of an organization like that?".

I know (slightly) a priest who wants to leave the priesthood to get married and have kids. The church has fought him on it all the way, stalled, lost his paperwork, and threatened to excommunicate him if he leaves the priesthood on his own.

Of course, if he'd merely molested a kid or two, he at least wouldn't have to worry about excommunication...

I guess challenging the authority of the organization is seen as a worse offense than mere child abuse.

Sorry Bree but it is impossible for a woman to be a priest. This will always be and the Church will never survive a change like that for the simple reason that the Church represents the mind of man with the priest being the conscious mind and the woman being the seat of wisdom contained in the subconscious mind of man. So the the Church is female and the priest is the idiot who speaks with urgency from the the pulpit.

Would you like to explain what this post means?

And would you like to address the question of whether it is worse for a catholic woman to try to be ordained than for Hitler to pursue genocide or for huge numbers of catholic priests to abuse children?

It's one of those things that GOD and JESUS sorta just forgot to tell us in the Bible. So the Pope made it up.

Is it just me, or does much of Christianity treat a penis as an antenna to god?

Catholicism will eventually change, but certainly not under this pope, nor the next (JPII has appointed over 90% of the voting Cardinals, IIRC, and only 1 that even slightly disagrees with him - I have little doubt he has chosen his successor).

I also suspect that they will eventually allow married priests.

As to why a woman would like to be a part of such an organization: the same reason I am involved in some groups: the goals are good, but the people involved are making the wrong choices/assumptions. In short: Change it from the inside.
