Faith Healers on HBO
Would a moderator please change the word in the topic heading to Faith please.
Has this already been discussed and I missed it? Last night HBO ran a program on "Faith Healers" and had Benny Hinn and some other person I was not familiar with. He was German and "healing" in Africa. At one point I was ready to jump on a plane , go find Hinn and kisk his ass. There was a family whose son had developed a brain tumor. All that son of a bitch Hinn did was convice this family to send him $2,000. Hinn laid hands on the little boy and just a few weeks later the child died. The poor family have been so duped (I think in their grief and desire to hope for a miracle that Hinn promises and shows in his Bullshit) that they are still sending money. Hinn claimed 76 miracle healings in one meeting so HBO asked for names and addresses. 9 months later Hinn sent them 5 names. Of the 5 there was no healing and one lady died of the same disease Hinn cured. If you can't tell, I hate that son of a bitch and think his show should be banned and replaced with porn. Lourdes (sp) has only claimed 62 healings in all these years, yet they let Hinn get away with his shit. The man is a menace.

The following is a transcription of what Benny Hinn said on Paul and Jan Crouch's TBN television program (Praise The Lord, Trinity Broadcasting Network, October 19, 1999):
Benny Hinn: But here's first what I see for TBN. You're going to have people raised from the dead watching this network. You're going to have people raised from the dead watching TBN. Programs -- just plain programs -- programs that haven't done much when it comes to supernatural manifestations -- teaching programs. It's not going to be a Benny Hinn saying "Stretch your hands." It's going to be your average teaching program, your normal Christian program that's blessing the church. There's going to be such power on these programs people will be raised from the dead worldwide. I'm telling you, I see this in the Spirit. It's going to be so awesome. Jesus I give you praise for this -- that people around the world -- maybe not so much in America -- people around the world who will lose loved ones, will say to undertakers, "Not yet. I want to take my dead loved one and place him in front of that TV set for 24 hours." Paul Crouch: Benny Hinn! Jesus! Benny Hinn: I'm telling you. People will be -- people -- I'm telling you, I feel the anointing talking here. People are going to be canceling funeral services and bringing their dead in their caskets, placing them -- my God! I feel the anointing here -- placing them before a television set, waiting for God's power to come through and touch them. And it's going to happen time and time -- so much it's going to spread. You're going to hear it from Kenya to Mexico to Europe to South America, where people will be raised from the -- so much so that the Word will spread that if some dead person be put in front of this TV screen, they will be raised from the dead and they will be by the thousands. You wait! |

Well, my personal preference would be to be dead when watching either Hinn or Crouch.

This also brings up a question of freedom of religion. As far as I know it is illegal to keep a dead person at home in front of a TV (maybe in a freezer would be ok). This would make for a helluva good episode on Court TV. If the judge rules that the dead person must be removed from the home and buried, can someone then bring a civil suite against the judge for “really killing” the person who was already dead? Lawyers are you paying attention here. This could be more profitable than chasing ambulances (I want 10% for just giving you the idea). Cable TV & electric companies also pay attention. Coffins could be electrified and fitted with cable TV (tuned permanently to the local Christian broadcasting channel. I want 10% from you guys too. On a more serious note, the father of the boy mentioned in the opening post did NOT feel that his son’s death was a failure on the part of Benny Hinn. He DID believe that there must be still be unresolved sin on his part or the part of his ancestors. Quote:

The clown that was 'working the crowd' in Africa told them that 4 witch doctors came to him and couldn't curse him. So they called the head witchdoctor in all of America and that person was unable to curse this evilngelist. Now doesn't that make you freakin' believe? If not then I guess nothing will.
