Angry Taliban Transit in SoCal

I live in West Covina, California, which is served by Foothill Transit (www.foothilltransit.org), which like many other transit systems in the USA are supported in part by tax money. In response to the World Trade Center Air Show on 9/11/01, FT has been displaying the offensive and divisive message "G D BLESS AMERICA" on its headsigns. Being funded by the state (in the sense of the government, not the province), Foothill Transit is a part of the state and is thus banned from endorsing religion in any way. I wrote to them by email (info@foothilltransit.org) on the issue and suggested "United We Stand" as an inoffensive alternative, and I eventually followed up my email with a visit to their headquarters in West Covina. I kept my message polite, of course, taking care to not get too volatile in my choice of words. So far, however, they're continuing their unconstitutional religion push. I was so ticked at having to ride to school (Cal Poly Pomona) in a bus with the offending message that I decided to vent some steam in this forum.

The smiley didn't work right. It was supposed to be "G D BLESS AMERICA."

Six. No Evangelion (bleah!), but if you want Slayers or Lost Universe, I'm your girl.

And, yes, those God Bless America things are goddamn everywhere. They don't just put up billboards; they paint them on walls as part of big jingoistic murals up in San Francisco, of all places.
