Default When Nice People Go to Hell

I was lurking on Christian Forums yesterday and I saw a post that caught my eye. It was a response by a Christian to a thread where non-believers are supposed to post their reasons for visiting Christian Forums. It went something like “You atheists seem really nice. I hope you come to Jesus because I’d really hate the thought of looking down on you and seeing you suffer”. This gave me the idea for a title to an upcoming book:

Just as I thought. Some theist on this board claim that Xians "do not look down on non-believers, as we all are sinners"

But this proves the Xian faith is more biggotted than even the KKK.

I like that.

I gotta think they already "look down" at us now. It also begs the grade school question to be asked, "how can I be happy in Heaven knowing that people I love are suffering in Hell?"
I asked that question when I was 8 or 9 and to this day still haven't received a good response.

If there really is such a place as paradise, then everyone there will supposedly enjoy eternal and perfect bliss. They certainly should not be troubled by all of us lost souls in Hell.

Heh, well being the goodly humanitarian that I am, I hope they don’t trouble themselves one iota about me up there. I’d hate to rain on their parade.

Speaking of bigotry, wouldn't lumping a whole group of people together and treating them as though they have no individual differences be a kind of bigotry? Especially when, for instance, you've been told before that the thing you're accusing them all of doing is one of the differences that they debate?

Yeah, your right. I need to keep myself in check I guess....

I was fine 2 years ago, now I have all this bitterness towards any faith that says I am going to a place of torture or that my belief system is not looked at as positive or neutral, but negative.

Good catch seebs....

I'm not qualified to judge your belief system, but if you're finding yourself more and more bitter, it seems to me that would be a thing worth working on. Bitterness is a horrid thing; it eats away at you, without appreciable effect on the thing you're bitter about.

This isn't to say I don't understand your frustration about people who are always telling you you're going to hell, and acting like they're glad 'cuz they don't want your sort in Heaven anyway. I have no idea how to deal with them; as much as possible, I pretend they don't exist.

For what it's worth, my branch of Christianity does not pretend to know the fate of anyone, believer or otherwise. I think that, if you strive for righteousness, it's not really anyone else's business whether you do this within Christianity or on your own terms, and I am hopeful that you will find a way past all the hostility you've experienced to some sort of joy.
