Talking Sunday's Calvin & Hobbes strip

The local newspaper here in Mexico (The News), runs a Calvin & Hobbes strip rerun. Curiously yesterday's strip was this one:

LOL, I love Calvin and Hobbes. Seems a bit controversial for a comic strip...but I appreciate the point of natural consequences.

I've been a "Calvin 'n' Hobbes" fan since their first comic strip my eyes fell on.

As for the content of the strip pointed at here, I remember how a forum member kept emhasizing that there's no connection between onthology and ethics. Now, if the world is made in such a way that there are repercusions and retribution, isn't one's behavior going to be affected in any way? Of course it is.

I hadn't read that one before, thanks for posting the link. I love that one; in my opinion, it highlights the silliness of demanding to be "told" what is or isn't moral; you have the facilities to figure it out, in most cases.

My favorite line from any calvin and hobbes comic will always be this:

Sometimes I think the surest sign that there is intelligent life out there, is that none of it has tried to contact us...

This is why you should not look to some invisible being for answers. You should just remember that if Susie catches you, she's gonna whup your ass.

Cool

Ah...I wonder how many impressionalbe youth learned their morality from the wonderous Calvin and Hobbes? I know I did. I love this strip, and was heartbroken when Waterston decided to discontinue it. Now, if you'll all excuse me, I have to go run naked through the house, and then go terrorize the neighbor girl. Hobbes!

There's no doubt Calvin and Hobbes had more of an effect on my development then I would like to admit . I've been reading those strips since around the 2nd or 3rd grade.

It's a pity that such a wonderful strip has been reduced to "that kid who pisses on Ford/Chevy emblems".
