Question A Question Regarding the Gospels

I have read much about the various theories on the dependancy of Matthew and Luke on Mark. Here's my question (I am honestly just looking for an answer not wanting to start a debate): Do portions of Matthew and Luke duplicate Mark word for word in the Greek? Or, is the theory of dependancy based on similar stories or what?

Actual answers or links to good information are welcome.

Regards,

Finch

One point I remember is that not only are the passage similar enough to show copying, but in the case of Mathew, he improves on Marks more primitive greek.

Large portions duplicate the greek text of GMk verbatim. Plus the presence of identical editorial comments like that in GMk 13:14 & GMt 24:15 at identical points in the narrative leads scholars to conclude without doubt that there is a literary interdependence. A good place to start would be Dr. Mark Goodacre's New Testament Gateway. Click on the "Synoptic Problem" link for a list of good sites. Most NT intro texts also have at least a brief treatment of the synoptic problem (Udo Schnelle devotes about 35 pages to the synoptic problem and Q).
