Default Jewish temple and other temples

I was watching Egypt:Land Of The Gods recently and it had a description of an Egyptian temple. It seemed to have a 'public area' and a sort of "forbidden inner sanctum" where only priests were allowed in, which housed the earthly dwelling place of the God.
This description sounds a lot like the Jewish temple, from the descriptions in the bible. Is it possible that the Jewish people borrowed the basic Egyptian temple design?
