Sander's Methodology
Quote:
In the hiatorical Figure of Jesus Sander doesn't offer a methodology but that is more of an abbreviated form of his earlier, longer work. Much like Crossan's Jesus A Revolutionary Biography vs The Historical Jesus. I've not read Sander's Jesus and Judaism so I don't know if he goes through Methodology there (from the Intro at Amazon it looks like he touches on it) but I just finished his joint work with (his wife?) Margaret Davies and he layed out the basics of a methodology that we can use to filter stuff out of the Gospels with. Methodology is lot more common in HJ circles than some popular books might lead us to believe. I'll put something up on it soon. The work was Studying the Synoptic Gospels. Vinnie |

Note that I am not critiquing Crossan's BoC as a "popular book". He may very well be correct in that methodology needs more attention by exegetes but that does not mean it is non-existent.

Which book is that? I'd be curious to see.

I'm working on something on methodology now. It will be extensively citing certain individuals and I'll be commenting here and there. So give me some time. It might take a few weeks
