Another stupid preacher comment
Just turned on the radio (AM) to listen to the news. Instead I got the sunday mornin' preachin' show. Just a couple excerpts:
"If you're just angry at God and think he doesn't care about you, what's the point of even trying to live?" .. .. <OT quote about getting up early and stying up late to toil away for food on your own strengths> "Sleep is the benefit of being loved by God" "Thank you Jesus.... thank you Lord!" - Rolling Stones |

Does anyone remember Jim Bakker and Tammy Faye ? How about Billy James Hargis, remember him ? And who was that guy who officiated ( claimed to be a christian minister ) at the mass suicide ?

How about Richard and Oral Roberts? Oral was going to be called to gawd if his followers didn't send him enough money.
Richard was selling "prayer cloths" that would cure illness in your children even after his own daughter died. You have to admit, these guys do have entertainment value. |

"Does anyone remember Jim Bakker and Tammy Faye ? "
Speaking of which, has anyone seen "The Eyes of Tammy Faye"? It's a terrific documentary on her. She's really a genuinely good person, completely not hung-up on evangelization, and is one of the most accepting & easy-going fundamentalist christians I've ever seen (not to mention a colorful character to boot). Before seeing this I'd sort of written her off, but now I almost wish she had her own tv show (for instance i never knew she hosted a brief talkshow w/ a gay co-host in 1996). Anyway, it's worth checking out. |
