If Jesus was God's ONLY son . . .
. . . what about his Sisters?
Are there tales in the discarded books of the bible about divine female siblings? It's always "Son o' God" this, and "Son o' God" that. Were the Sisters off doing more important things? cheers, Michael |

It was a patriarchal society. Fathers and sons mattered more than mere females.

Hi DMB,
Yes, I know there was probably a conspiracy to hide the diefic activities of any Goddess(es) (probably because they were doing a better job than that layabout Yahweh, who seems to have been a pretty haphazard workBeing). I was more wondering if there was something in the Apochrypha or similar non-canonical writings about there being some fellow God-sibs of the feminine persuasion. Hi Magus55, Seems to me that they could just refer to him as the The Only Begotton Child of God and made things a lot clearer. I'd think that the Jesus avatar of the godhead would really only qualify as a demigod, as he lacked (by a huge margin) full godly powers. So would a younger Sister have been underfoot making rude noises during the parables, or an older Sister have been constantly harping at him about all the wood shavings he kept tracking into the house? cheers, Michael |

I kind of like the idea. Nothing would bring a demi-God down to Earth more than having bratty little sisters around. More important question though is--------Why would any God subject Himself to such nonsense? That is part of the allure of Jesus to the common man--that He would subject Himself to such things just to share our feelings. |

Hi Rational BAC,
I don't see what this thread is all about. Sometimes I work in mysterious ways. Mind you, I'm not questioning about whether Mary and Joseph had other kids (I guess they'd just be fraternal godlings at best, always being shown up by their inability to levitate or generate a halo). I'm saying that things are kind of murky in the Bible about the presence of female sibling dieties. The door seems open for Jesus-phine to have been off in the wilds of South America (possibly at a different time), doing her best to encourage the locals to rip her heart from her chest in the ever-popular bloody demigod sacrifice. cheers, Michael |

Christ being an only son would make God the perfect model for China's One-Child Policy.

Hey, Mark9950, it's NOT always Son-of-God this and Son-of-God that...Lotsa times it's Son of Man. You know...Manson.
