Actually, there are some Neopagans who worship the Egyptian deities (including Bast!) or at least invoke them in rituals. (I think worship of the Egyptian pantheon was originally part of the makeup of the group called the Church of All Worlds, but I may be wrong).

I don't know if there's a group that's attempting to revive Egyptian worship the way it was practiced, though, with the same rituals and holidays, as opposed to just using the god-names.

This past year I went to a gathering of the Fellowship of Isis in the Chicago area, which is a group of neo-Pagans who follow the Egyptian pantheon and the traditional African notions of those Gods. Try a search engine for them, or for Olivia Robertson (or Robinson? eep...) who started the Isian movement.

I like to read about Neopaganism. I don't believe in it, but on the other hand it doesn't irritate me in the same way that reading about Christianity (and people who want to run my life according to the Bible) does.

Actually, I think the Church of All Worlds is based on Michael Valentine Smith's religion in Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land.

It would be a bit difficult to completely restore Egyptian worship - mummification isn't exactly easy, and you'd have some problems getting hold of a Pharaoh who would be a god.
There are definitely neo-pagans who have brought the Egyptian pantheon back though, though I don't think they go for forms of worships that the Egyptians did, probably just because it would be difficult.

But since there are Greek and Roman Reconstructionists trying to revive the Graeco-Roman religions the way they were practiced in their own times and places, I wondered if there might be Egyptian Reconstructionists running around somewhere. Perhaps some religions are easier than others, though.

Its the people trying to revive Mithraism that gets me. And the other mystery cults too, of course. Trouble is that they were secret and therefore we know little about their actual rituals and beliefs - so how can they be practised now???

And there are! Here's a few websites. The Egyptian reconstructionists tend to use the word "Kemetic" in describing what they're doing.

Apparently they believe in a loving version of Xtianity plus two things....mother goddess AND father god, and reincarnation.

My only opinion on this whole thread is that I do not care what god or being I worship, just so long as that deity gives me what I want, like Santa in a perfect world. I just want results and no guilt or shame. I want my enemies strung up by their gonads [or mammary glands, as the case may be], by my favorite deity. Like the smug Xtians that say that their prayers are answered and they have the inside skinny on what Gawd says to them.....[pause to go get barf pan here].

There are gnostics all over the place. <a href="http://www.gnosis.org" target="_blank">www.gnosis.org</a> is particularly good as they have the Nag Hammadi library online. (If you like that sort of thing)
