I'm a Hankian. I believe in Hank. Hank is a jillionaire who loves me and wants to give me a million dollars after I leave town. All you have to do to get the money after you leave town is to kiss Hank's ass. But no one can actually see Hank or kiss his ass, so we all kiss this other guy's ass who represents Hank instead. We all know people who have gotten the million, but we haven't seen them since they left town since in order to keep the money you have to stay away from town forever. If you don't believe in Hank and kiss his ass while you're here, then once you leave town Hank will beat you up.

Why would kissing Hank's ass frighten anyone?

I don't understand the question.

Are you saying that those of us without faith are frightened of love? Or is it your contention that many people, regardless of faith, are frightened of love and you wonder why?

As to why I'd be unnerved by "love" that allows illness, violence, famine, war, child abuse, homophobia, supression of free thought and science, and threatens eternal damnation and suffering over difference of opinion...isn't it obvious? Let's just say if there is a God, he needs anger management therapy and you need to stop sucking up to this abusive creep.
