Godless March: What to do?
Keeping in mind that this is the "Church-State Separation Forum", in addition to standing in a crowd and listening to speaches, is there anything else that can be accomplished at this time?
[Note: Talking to congresscritters is probably not an option -- this is 3 days before the election and the politicians are likely to be back campaigning in their home states.] |

Educate the participants on how they may best accomplish their objectives. Keep in mind that they are probably open-minded but frustrated. ANY action is preferable to inaction. Action is inevitable. Advise on the best course of action.
My advice (to participants) is to STAY POSITIVE! Don't give in to your frustrations. Tell the country what is POSITIVE about your belief in a natural world, free of superstition. DON'T put down Christians. They are the majority in this country. But most of them are NOT fundamentalists. Most would be sympathetic to your cause (as they are to racial minorities) as long as you do not attack them. Don't send the message that Christians are bad. Most of them aren't. Send the message that atheists/humanists/free-thinkers are good. Be prepared to defend that claim. [ August 17, 2002: Message edited by: CaptainDave ]</p> |
