Recently we have Pat Robertson saying that Muslims are worst than Nazis when it comes to treatment of Jews. Christians in chatrooms and boards keep boasting about their "religion of peace" shit and suspects each of every Muslims brethen of theirs as Al Qaeda hippies. How they're annoyed Muslims take out their mats and whine like a dog while they themselves are annoying with them shoving public prayer in schools and teaching Buh-ble in the class. One recent friend was no different either with him crediting Christians for producing Mother Teresa, Martin luther King while he says all Islam does is producing suicide bombers.

In my country, the Muslims are the BEST bunch. No Muslims, yes, NONE ever prothelyze to me. They do not force all students to do public Solats. They do not restrict people from even wearing a pentagram to schools. And better, they do not wear products which akin goes to "Xtianity is not a religion, it's about yur relationship with Christ" crap which stirs off my mind. On the other hand, I lose contact with almost all my Christian friends when I de-converted because I just shudder if they're trying to bring me into a Bible debate. Oh well...

Hi Corgan,

Don't you feel threatened by the implementation of shari'a in Kelantan (or was it Kedah?)? The reason why fundamentalist Islam is worse than fundamentalist Christianity is that they still have control of some countries (or states as in your country). If the PAS overruns UMNO (not likely, but given that UMNO seems to be waning, you never know), I think you're going to change your mind quite quickly. Still, Malays make much better drinking buddies than Chinese. Only the nominal ones, that is. They're probably the best ones to fight of the Islamic fundies since only their liberties are threatened with Malaysia's current constitution.

It is all I have ever known...my personal God belief is no better than a Muslims belief, it is all a personal subjective belief anyways..

Amazing is this blindness of Christians to the harsh dictates of their own Qur'an (aka the Bible). In truth, both scriptures can be used to promote merciful behaviour, or conversely, violent behaviour. It's up to the believers to conquer their natural vices and be merciful, like the local Muslims you mention.

I wear my pentagram at work. Apart from some curious looks and questions about it, people have gone easy with me over it.

I've always worn a pentagram to work-for close on 16 years now.
I've never had probs either, apart from jokes about not angering me or I'll turn them into a frog, which I encourage!
Right now I'm wearing 4 pentagrams, of different stlyes and lengths, (because I just like the damn things).
South Africa is a good country to be an atheist in.

On the topic, I honestly see no difference whatsoever between Islam and Christianity.
Just keep them both the hell away from me.

Of course, there are tolerant and intolerant members of both religions. And various "Christian" and "Muslim" nations have been predominantly tolerant or intolerant at various times throughout history.

I wonder if an unbiased comparison of the actual core teachings of the two religions can be made? For Christianity, most of the "nasty stuff" is in the Old Testament. Islam also includes that, but regards it as "corrupt" and the Koran supersedes it: so a point-by-point comparison of the worst of the OT and the Koran would be needed.

And, to balance that, a comparison of the "best" teachings of Christianity and Islam would be necessary (again, derived directly from the books: not a comparison of modern implementations of either religion).
