Talking

Quote:
The notion of separating church and state with such policies as disallowing prayer in public schools "is a deception from Satan,'' said Joyce Meyer, a convention sponsor.
Finally, they're putting the blame where it belongs! I'm glad they're no longer slandering out founding fathers and have instead given credit to our Dark Lord.

Quote:
"If God is in fact separated from the government, then we can never possibly have a godly government,'' Meyer said to a standing ovation.
It's true you know...

Red face

CNN has an <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/10/11/elec02.christian.coalition.ap/index.html" target="_blank">article</a> on this as well.

Quote:
President Bush sent the convention a videotaped message Friday, greeting the Christian conservatives and promising an administration that would advocate the group's key agenda items: anti-abortion activism, low taxes, limited government and judges who don't legislate.
Screw you Ralph Nader!!!

Don't get mad at Nader, he was one of the few candidates in the 2000 election that didn't bend over to the right-wingers.

A more liberal Gore and a lot less of Lieberman and we wouldn't have Shrub.

Btw, far more Democrats voted for Shrub than voted for Nader. Blame them for Gore's loss, not Nader.

I prefer to blame both.

Thumbs down

They're showing the CC conference right now on C-Span. It looks and sounds a lot like Nuremberg circa 1936.

Someone on another board I frequent was watching it. He had this to say:
Late night TV (I guess it's early morning here now), really sucks. I started watching the Christian Coalition's Annual Conference and I've learned many things.
The country is going to hell and liberals are leading the way.
Actually it's my fault.
The Rebublican canidates are going to lead a revolution back to god.
God isn't allowed in school (Out of curiosity, how exactly do you keep Him out?)
The ACLU is evil.
I'm evil
I can still save my soul if I just vote Republican.
The country can be saved if we post the ten commandments on every building.
Cloaning is bad.
God is a Republican.
Mrs. Clinton's a member of the Christian Coalition? Ooh, new program, I should stop channel surfing.
My final conclusion is that politians are all hypocrites (both parties) and the country would be much better off with me in charge.

The most idiotic moment was when <a href="http://www.joycemeyer.com/" target="_blank">Joyce Meyer</a> got up and prayed for God to fix the conference's sound system (which had been damaged by lightening the night before!).

I saw this quote in our local paper: "If you don't do it [vote conservative candidates in November], it ain't gonna be done. You will be doing the Lord's work and He will richly bless you." - Senator Jame Inhofe R-OK.

Despicable is the only way to describe such a quote. But on the bright side, they aren't too bright. This kind of talk turns off moderate voters that are needed to get their candidates elected. It is very rare to see politicians invoke God as on their side. They do so at great peril. Americans - even Christians - don't like that kind of talk. It is borderline blasphemous. (Heck for me it is over the border.) I was thinking of drafting a letter to the editor on this point. Help me out - nothing too over the top, this is a very religious state I'm in, and I'd rather come at from a side that is hostile to the conservatives and not to religion.
