Unhappy Good news or bad on Aghajari?

The latest on Hashem Aghajari, from the BBC Online

My hopes come from statments like:

Quote:
In addition to the death penalty, he was sentenced to eight years' internal exile in remote areas of Iran and banned from teaching for 10 years
.

Hopefully they're not seriously thinking of executing him, then banishing him from Teheran. But killing him would be a show of strength by the hardline fundies.

He questioned why clerics alone had the right to interpret Islam
This seems like what Martin Luther was expressing about the catholic church.

Yeah, it seems like you can say what you like about the deity concerned, but if you mess with the authority of the bishops/mullahs/etc. it's called heresy/apostasy/whatever is a capital crime.
