Default Hidden Gospel message in Genesis 5 genealogy

From: http://www.khouse.org/articles/1996/44/

A remarkable example of this can be glimpsed in Genesis Chapter 5, where we have the genealogy of Adam through Noah. This is one of those chapters which we often tend to skim over quickly as we pass through Genesis it's simply a genealogy from Adam to Noah.

But God always rewards the diligent student. Let's examine this chapter more closely.

In our Bible, we read the Hebrew names. What do these names mean in English?
[...]
Now let's put it all together:

Hebrew --- English
Adam ------ Man
Seth ------- Appointed
Enosh ------ Mortal
Kenan ------ Sorrow;
Mahalalel --- The Blessed God
Jared ------- Shall come down
Enoch ------ Teaching
Methuselah - His death shall bring
Lamech ---- The Despairing
Noah ------- Rest, or comfort.

That's rather remarkable:

Man (is) appointed mortal sorrow; (but) the Blessed God shall come down teaching (that) His death shall bring (the) despairing rest.

Here's the Gospel hidden within a genealogy in Genesis!

(You will never convince me that a group of Jewish rabbis conspired to hide the Christian Gospel right here in a genealogy within their venerated Torah!)

How could one explain this?
Are the meanings of the names all correct?

I couldn't find an explanation of the literal meaning of some of the names but those that I did find suggest the author has been somewhat creative in his use of the assumed meanings. Except where it has been explicitly given in the Bible, the assumed meanings are apparently not all that certain.

Seth ------- Appointed

According to some Hebrew websites, this name literally means "to set in place" so "appointed" isn't exactly misleading but a clever choice of synonym. I was amused to learn that this name also literally means "buttocks".

Enosh ------ Mortal

According to what I've been able to find, the full meaning is "mortal man".

Mahalalel --- The Blessed God

I found a Bible commentary that claims "Mehujael" literally means "God blots out" but I found another that says "praise of God".

Enoch ------ Teaching

That same commentary and others say "Enoch" means "dedicated" rather than "teaching".

Methuselah - His death shall bring

This is only a part of the given meaning because what was to be sent upon his death was God's judgment. The commentary I referenced above gives "Man of God" as the literal meaning of "Methushael".

Noah ------- Rest, or comfort.

This is also only part of what the name means based on the rest of the passage where the child is named: "This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed."

So what you really have is this:

Man
set in place/buttocks
mortal man
sorrow(?)
God blots out/praise of God
descent
dedicated
his death shall bring God's judgment/man of God
the despairing(?)
comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed.

Not quite as amazing, though, I have to admit.

More hidden name messages are found in the names of other holy groups such as the Beatles!!!!

John: God is gracious

Paul: humble

George: laborer (or farmer)

Richard: great reward (or power) (Ringo's given name is Richard)

God is gracious, (giving) the humble laborer great reward!!

And the clincher is, Ringo's given last name tells us what worshiping god gives us: Starrkey. The key to the stars, i.e. the key to heaven!!!

******************

See, wasn't that easy? You try it!

Here's what I've come up with, from http://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/Gen/Gen005.html#top:

Adam ------ Red (elsewhere, I've seen that "Adam" may mean something along the lines of "the ground")
Seth ------- Compensation
Enosh ------ Mortal
Kenan ------ Posession
Mahalalel --- Praise of God
Jared ------- Descent
Enoch ------ Dedicated
Methuselah - Man of the Dart (or man of the javelin) [see below]
Lamech ---- Powerful
Noah ------- Rest

From http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/10048b.htm:

Quote:
Holzinger gives "man of the javelin" as the more likely meaning; Hommel and many with him think that it means "man of Selah", Selah being derived from a Babylonian word, given as a title to the god, Sin; While Professor Sayee attributes the name to a Babylonian word which is not understood.
