Once or twice a year we hear of expeditions , in the medias , that claim to have found the site , where Noah' s ark ran aground on or near a mountain top when the waters started to recede after the deluge ! Then nothing , these christians aren't even "apologists" for I have never heard any of them say :we did not find anything , we apologize for having misled you .

They found the ark? Again? How many times does that make? I'm starting to lose count.

What a load of fu-ing crap. Where to begin. People are such suckers. Show us cleaved rock and claim it's Noah's ark?? throw in the "we found seashell's" as if that were some news in the region and get a sucker to put it on tv.

Cornuke was just on. His claims were toned way down from the bullshit linked in the OP. He just said he had found some stone formations containing petrified wood and that the mountain used to be underwater. These are both profoundly unremarkable and uninteresting discoveries but Kasich (who is a moron) was eating it up with a spoon.
Cornuke also blathered a lot of meaningless nonsense about how the site is where the Bible says it should be (which is a lie -- Genesis says absolutely nothing about where the ark landed) and how some guy "from WWII" told them that's where the ark was and how he's a retired police investigator and so he knows all about how to "deal in probabilities" (someone should tell him that the "probability" there was ever a global flood has been determined within a scientific certainty to be absolutely fucking zero). Kasich was a completely credulous sucker about all of it, of course, but that's Fox News for you. |

My letter to Fox
Dear Mr. Kasich, I was surprised (and dismayed) that a news channel that purports to be ‘fair and balanced’ would present such a sham of a news story regarding Noah’s Ark. As a professional geologist, the idea that seashells on a mountaintop indicates that the world was covered by water during a global flood 4000 years ago is silly. Plate tectonics explains these fossils as remnants of the Tethyan Ocean that closed ahead of the colliding Indian subcontintent some 50 million years ago. The ‘wood’ formations shown on your show appear to be cleaved and deformed rocks, not a boat. Had you bothered to research your guest, you would have also discovered that many Christian organizations have labeled him a fraud. His Ph.D. is from an unaccredited institute that basically sells Ph.D.’s to anyone with the money to purchase the degree. There is nothing wrong with reporting ‘fantastic news’, but you should be careful that your ‘fantastic news’ is not something derived from Weekly World News. Sincerely Dr. Joseph G. Meert Department of Geological Sciences University of Florida Gainesville, FL 32611 PS: My Ph.D. is from the University of Michigan which is an accredited University. |
