Point taken. It was the Acts of Thomas written in the early third century which alleged that Thomas went to India sometime in the first century.

Quote:
An early third-century Syriac work known as the Acts of Thomas[2] connects the apostle's Indian ministry with two kings, one in the north and the other in the south. According to one of the legends in the Acts, Thomas was at first reluctant to accept this mission, but the Lord appeared to him in a night vision and said,

“Fear not, Thomas. Go away to India and proclaim the Word, for my grace shall be with you.”But the Apostle still demurred, do the Lord overruled the stubborn disciple by ordering circumstances so compelling that he was forced to accompany an Indian merchant, Abbanes, to his native place in northwest India, where he found himself in the service of the Indo-Parthian king, Gondophares. The apostle's ministry resulted in many conversions throughout the kingdom, including the king and his brother.[3]

Vatican says that Thomas did not go to India.

His acts? If you believe such cock and bull fiction, then India was xianised before the Romans.

Pope Benedict said that Thomas DID go to Western India.
Quote:
On 27 September 2006, Pope Benedict XVI made a speech in St. Peter’s Square at Vatican City in which he recalled an ancient St. Thomas tradition. He said that “Thomas first evangelized Syria and Persia and then penetrated as far as western India, from where Christianity also reached South India”.

And how would he know?

Pope Benedict is not an academic authority. He has also said recently that the Shroud of Turin is authentic. He also believes that Jesus was born of a virgin.

Pope Benedict said the following concerning the Shroud [It]. .

Quote:
. . . “wrapped the remains of a crucified man in full correspondence with what the Gospels tell us of Jesus.”
and

Quote:
"an icon written in blood; the blood of a man who was whipped, crowned with thorns, crucified, and injured on his right side."
