Point taken. It was the Acts of Thomas written in the early third century which alleged that Thomas went to India sometime in the first century.

Pope Benedict said that Thomas DID go to Western India.

Pope Benedict is not an academic authority. He has also said recently that the Shroud of Turin is authentic. He also believes that Jesus was born of a virgin.
