Default official sbl thread

This is the thread where I can report back on the SBL meeting. Please ask any questions. I will try to make nightly notes.

So far, I arrived on a plane this morning a little too late for the meeting of bgreek, xtalk, etc organized by Jeffrey Gibson. I am in the main convention hall where the books are sold.

I am fortunate that my laptop was not stolen from my luggage.

yours truly,
Peter Kirby

Howdy Peter! Wish I could have made it, the Matthew topics look delicious. Keep me up-to-date on that section, if you can.

Lookin forward to it,

Chris

To tell the truth, I'm not enjoying these meetings/lectures all that much. Most of the time I am just fighting to keep awake. The best part seems to be meeting people and the book exhibit.

I might take a tour tomorrow and skip out on the SBL entirely.

I think I haven't been enjoying myself because I was way too tired. So I corrected that for sleeping for about 16 hours.

There is a meeting about "computational linguistics" this afternoon that I am looking forward to with anticipation.

best,
Peter Kirby

So very true, Peter, and you already sound like an experienced attender. I'm certainly happy that we got the chance to get together.

Well, I guess our official sbl thread has petered out already (no pun intended).

That was quick!

Should we take this as a commentary on the general value of what has been discussed at this august gathering?

Cheers,

Yuri.

August gathering? This is November, Yuri, not August.

Just kidding. Out of curiosity, have you ever been a member of the SBL, or ever attended one of the annual meetings?

Ben.
