Daniel 7:13 "with clouds of heaven" wrong?
Could Daniel 7:13 say "I saw in visions of night, and behold, a people of clouds of heaven, like a son of man it is coming..." and it will be given the kingdom. The angel explains to Daniel that the kingdom is given to the saints of the Most High in Daniel 7:18 and 27. Wouldn't it make more sense if the vision actually had the people getting the kingdom than if it said, "I saw in visions of night, and behold, with clouds of heaven, one like a son of man is coming..." and the kingdom will be given to him. Maybe the people were made up clouds? It would not be much stranger than the other unusual creatures in Daniel's visions in Daniel 7.

It's useful to read the passage in its context. There have appeared four beasts, one like a lion, one like a bear, one like a panther and one like nothing else the writer could think of (though it seems like an elephant). These beasts are described as kings, though in fact they are more correctly kingdoms, the Babylonians, the Medes, the Persians and the Greeks (Seleucids).
Then along comes one like a son of man. Just as the beasts represent kingdoms (or if you will, peoples), so does the one like a son of man. Umm, who do you think this one like a son of man represented? There is no need to manipulate the text. spin |
