It is idolatry whenever the state is not God.

Furthermore, a fascist state intrinsically opposes both the Church and God; to take power, it must violate the moral teachings of the Church, and the moral commandments of God.

Ha! That is where you are wrong. This is from whence your entire false dichotomy comes from. National Socialism intrinsically opposes the Church's moral teachings insofar as it's legislation is intrinsically racist.

I am not a National Socialist.

Fascism is not in and of itself contrary to the Church's teachings.

Sadly, when I look at the record of the governments of Catholic theocracies, before the reformation, and in some places afterwards, I find that something that, if not exactly fascism, was very close to it, was very much a part of the Church's teachings.

Lots of very fascistic stuff in Aquinas, if memory serves.

The reason it looks so much like fascism is because the Church has always been in support of the Monarchy. Fascism is essentially Monarchy 102. It is a superior, more closely perfected version.

It's kinda like monarchy, but with all of the kinks taken out.

Hmm. As I recall Catholism has always been supportive of monarchy as long as the monarch concedes the primacy of the church. I'm not a history expert - but I do know that Henry 8th was given the title fid. def. by the catholic church, not the version of the church he set up.

But monarchy sucks! As many catholics in the time of the Tudors discovered.

I think you are standing up well in the face of those who would give the church a more kind, loving, liberal face. The believers in the Christ who cares for little children, not the Christ who comes to bring not peace, but the sword.

Less well in providing any sort of rational reason for believing in god in the first place.

To be completely up front, I welcome your posts.

You seem to be doing for Catholicism what the Landover Baptists are doing for the Baptist Church. Telling it like it is.

The difference being that the Landover Baptists are tellingly satirising the Baptist church, while if you are not sincere, then I'm well and truly fooled.

Now - can we get back to rational demonstrations of the existence of god in general, and the god of the Abrahamic tradition in particular?

Yes, we're all glad Luther smeared his 95 Feces all over the door of the Wittenburg Cathedral. How fitting, then, that the seat of the Protestant Deformation was a toilet.

I suppose many of my fellow co-religionists will get the title of "fascist" for supporting Francisco Franco, if you want a more recent example.

1. The Crusades were entirely justified. The Mohammedans had to be put to the sword.

2. The Pope never forced anyone to say the Earth was the center of the Universe, including Galileo. Learn some history.

What are you talking about? The Church, itself, was pretty kind to the indigenous cultures. Almost all the atrocities I can think of were the responsibility of the secular authorities.
