Roger, as you can tell from Ed's myriad websites, Ed is something of an agnostic evangelist.

I think it quite probable, if one may judge by his writings and those with whom he seems closely associated, that he is attempting to "deconvert" you from your Christianity.

After finding out the things he believed in as a Christian, it is difficult to see how he thinks that others will find his belief in agnosticism any more convicing.

Surely anyone who comes along telling us to adopt his views has got to be able to articulate them first, and not merely his hatred for some other set? After all, who is interested in anyone else's dislikes? We can all throw stones. If we don't have to put our own views up for examination, then the argument is won! All we have to do is listen to whatever the other person says and then demand he produce proof. Whatever proof he produces, we just smile and lift the bar of evidence until it is excluded. And we keep doing this, while he struggles. There is no point at which he can win, since we can keep making impossible demands of him, safe in the knowledge that our own views will not be held to the same standard.

Asking him to put his cards on the table generally disposes of such folk. I find that they invariably turn out to be campaigning that we live by societal values instead but don't seem to know it or want to know it. And, in the end, who wants to live by the values of the Selfish Generation? I remember them being invented. I thought those who invented them were mostly scum.

All the best,

Roger Pearse

Babibski is a biologist and an ex-fundamentalist whose primary focus is evolution vs creationism. He is a prolific internet writer on the subject, although his only published work in hard copy is on his deconversion. I don't know why he is picking on you. He's not a crank, but the two of you might not be able to communicate productively.
No, unless he made a significant career change, he is not a biologist. Last I knew he was a staff librarian at Furman University in South Carolina, which seems confirmed by the bio you posted.
