When my father came down with shingles, he really came down, it located in one of his legs and practically paralyzed him. Neighbors found him in extreme pain attempting to drag himself out to the street. We had to move him from his home of some 40 years and give him full time assisted care in our home for the next 2 years. His leg shriveled up like he had polio. He finally made a full recovery but it took years, and certainly was no walk in the park. I had my bout with shingles 12 years ago, nothing more than a severe backache (which I thought was simply back strain from the heavy construction work I was doing at the time) and an itchy rash around my belt-line, worked right on through the week and didn't take time off to go to the doctor until Friday night to get checked out, and by Monday morning I was pretty much over it. Americas rip-off health care system is a public shame. I have always been blessed with good employer provided health insurance coverage, not so my less fortunate extended family, some of whom I have seen suffer for decades with medical problems that they simply could not afford to have treated. A daily life of needless suffering, that takes its toll on every aspect of their living, and left untreated has often led to more severe health problems. . |

In the USA, treating humans with humanity is known as communism. Any success achieved by humans in being treated with humanity is credited to leaders only.

I guess I don't see where being a right-winger makes one a 'leftist'...

I didn't know anything about Price's politics until they were implied in this thread.

My mention of our Australian 'communist' public health system was a tongue in cheek somewhat snide comment I'm sorry to admit.
Having lived in the US I am amazed at the recent furore over a publicly funded health system such as the UK one and that which we have here and which, despite some problems, is regarded by most as an essential and extremely valuable component of a civilized country. Oops I did it again. Sorry. And sorry to Robert Price. I hope he gets well. A mate of mine was severly ill with shingles recently, it aint a joke. |
