It seems to be a cliche to call Jesus a "great moral teacher". But is this really true? Even by ordinary standards, Jesus's moral teachings seem completely insipid, where not entirely weird and contradictory. The article Jesus' Ethics? in the Christianity FAQ of About.com doesn't have much good to say about Jesus' teachings.

Even taking the NT at face value, what kind of ethical case can be made about Jesus' ethics from the synoptic gospels? How about throwing in the gospel of John? Given that much of modern Christianity comes from Paul, what ethical instruction did he receive from Jesus?

Considering people like Hitle were inspired by the New Testiment, and tha slave laws in the United States were largely bassed from and defended with the Bible, I highly dobt Jesus was very ethical.

I mean, Damn Jesus, why are you going to be pissed at those who do not follow you? Just let them burn in Hell and they'd never effect you.

IMO, no. I can't find the hippy "make love not war" (err... different kind of love I guess) Jesus in the Bible. I think most Christians practice selective interpretation ( ) to find a Jesus that fits better with the modern notion of Christianity.
