Richard Carrier Speaking on Historicity of Jesus
I am presently working on articles that I intend to seek peer reviewed publication for, and perhaps eventually a book compiled therefrom. This means two things: I will not be producing any formal online work on the subject until my print work is completed in the proper scholarly venue; but I will be discussing my theories and ideas "in progress" to audiences in person to explore feedback and develop my methods of presentation. Two such events are now coming up:
Tuesday, May 30 - "Did Jesus Even Exist?" for Stanford RATT TIME: 7pm LOCATION: Stanford campus, Palo Alto, California (building 380, room 381U, in the Math Corner of the Main Quad, just off Serra Mall and the Oval) SUBJECT: Reasons to doubt that Jesus ever existed as an actual historical person, covering the major evidence and clues, from an expert in ancient history and historiography, with handouts and Q&A. URL FOR MORE INFORMATION: http://www.stanford.edu/group/rt/ Saturday, June 24 - Panel on "The Historical Jesus" for West Coast Atheists Mini-Convention TIME: Sometime between 9am and 5pm PLACE: Crowne Plaza Hotel, Foster City, California, in the Bay Area near the San Mateo bridge (convention program will announce time and room) SUBJECT: Kooky Theories about Jesus and Problems with the Evidence NOTES: $20 cover charge for the whole convention; I will be joining laymen Don Havis and David Fitzgerald on this panel; many other notable speakers are scheduled on other subjects.
