Interestingly, I've never been afraid of being bitten by the bed bugs. When I was a wee lad, I couldn't help but stare into the dark hallway as I poked my head barely out of the covers. I always watched the dark abyss beyond my bedroom door. I was always on the alert for the boogey man...

Monsters in the bed. That reminds me of when I was a kid and the lights were out, I would see crazy lines wandering across the ceiling and was worried that a giant spider was coming to get me. Then I thought hard about it and figured out the lines were from a light shining through the bare branches of a tree that was blowing in the wind. My first recollection of independant, critical thought. After figuring out that one, debunking religion was easy!
