Default Gerd Lüdemann versus the Pope on Jesus

Lüdemann has just published Eyes That See Not: The Pope Looks at Jesus (or via: amazon.co.uk), a response to Pope Benedict XVI's Jesus of Nazareth (or via: amazon.co.uk).

Polebridge Press special offer until April 11

The book can be previewed on Amazon at the first link above. The Foreward starts with the bold proposition "Ratzinger's presupposition that the gospels present accurate historical accounts is wrongheaded"

I am just reading the pope's book now. Fascinating. When I first heard that Benedict XVI. wants to rehabilitate Luther I could not believe it. Now, I think I am beginning to understand the affinity between the two radicals. It can be best expressed by Luther's maxim: die Vernunft ist des Teufels Hure. (Reason is the devil's harlot.)

Thank you, Toto. I read the Amazon selections from the Ludemann book and ordered a copy last night (along with a copy of the Burridge book on the Gospels as bioi ).
