It may well be that the interpretation of that particular passage should be "put god first", but the arguments you have proposed to support that interpretation are weak. That's what we're coming back to time and again. Quote:

...just as the Pope has sold all he owns to give to the poor, like all the Christians on this planet. Even at the highest levels, Christians don't take Jesus' nonsense seriously.

He's only illiterate when it's time to make excuses for the fact we have no writings from him. At all other times, he's a Jewish scholar who we know was literate because he wrote something in the sand.

Why did Jesussay if you don't hate your mother you are going straight tohell? "Woman, what have I to do with thee?" (John 2:4). That was just a nice way to tell his own mother to go tohell when she bugged him to make grape koolade.

The fact that many Christians don't hate their parents doesn't prove anything; after all, how many Christians do you know who would actually turn the other cheek if you hit them? Many people who say they are Christians would more than likely give you a black eye for a black eye, even though it goes totally against the teachings of Jesus. How many Christians do you know of who actually give up all their possessions (Lk. 14:33)? Christians don't follow much of the Bible except for the bits and pieces that are in current vogue. In any case, what Christians do today has no bearing whatsoever on the translation of misew in Lk. 14:26. I've given you an analysis based on the actual context of the verse as to what it should mean, which you haven't answered. Why don't you comment on this rather than asking me questions about the Pope and Billy Graham? |
