You do not understand the Golden Rule.

Baseless assertions. You have not shown that God is good or an appropriate basis of morality: you simply assert it.

And if God writes the Law on our hearts, why do so many people argue about what that Law is? Answer me this simple question: is it moral to remarry while your first wife is still alive?

Your religion is not love. Love does not kill. Your God kills. Love does not punish. Your God punishes. Love does not demand unthinking obedience, groveling, or self-abasment. Your God does. Love does not treat people like property. Your God does.

Your religion is not love. You do not understand what love is.

And 2,000 years of history. Tell you what: let's put it to the test. Me and your God, Saturday night, outside the skating rink. I'll bring my 9mm, and he can bring... well, anything he wants. Then we'll see who has power.

Of course, if he doesn't show, we'll have to assume he's afraid.

exegetical interpretation
You mean, making shit up? Ya, you can show anything if you just make shit up first.

That certainly sounds like the rationale any good Atheist could make for genocide...
Your comments no longer bear even the guise of rationality. Unless by this one you meant that self-defense is immoral.

>>>Property...everybody is governed by somebody/something...whether it is the state, spouse, natural law, etc...
Guess what? You are wrong. Just plain, objectively, flatly wrong. There is property law, and then there are other laws to govern human beings, that are different than property law. Don't take my word for it: ask a lawyer.

Human beings are more than property. Anyone that does not understand this is suffering from some kind of mental defect. This is not an insult; but an objective observation.

***sigh*** - could you show me support for that opinion in the Bible? NASB, please...
No, I can't. My support for that opinion was you: which is why I quoted you. You even provided your own quote, and yet cannot recognize my comment as directed at it.

...of course you are blessed to be living in a society built on Judeo/Christian morality...
Incorrect. I live in a society built on Enlightnment ideals.

And now you demonstrate illiteracy. My post quite clearly directs my firearm at God (as does this one). Either you are unable to read English, or you think you are God.

You have become too irrational to converse with. I will no longer participate in discussions with you.

Yahzi, I may have misunderstood...

You grovel before power that isn't even real. You are a slave with chains of your own making. I would feel sorry for you, but you're too much of a danger to me. Even tigers have to be put down when they stop being responsible, because they become a danger (responsible tigers don't eat people: only desparate, starving, sick ones do, but afterwards, they do it all the time).
What is this meant to convey?

jdlongmire - thank you for the sites. (One came up with a missing link)

Couple points.

1) any site that only mentions two (2) accounts of the census I question. there were three (3) accounts. I wonder why the third is missed.

2) None of these (and there are others that do) account for the different numbers, the different tribes, and the different amounts paid to the Jebusite.

3) I particularily like the site that said, "70,000 dead? Eh, no big deal. This was a light punishment. Israel got off easy." Nice.

4) All fail to address the single most important issue. - If God was justified in punishing Israel for its sin, why go through the charade of forcing David to sin?

5) All fail to address the issue of Satan's limitation, or inability to incite David, until God allows it.

6) All fail to give a justification as to why it was a sin to do a census. (oh, they try, but it is all guess work.)

7) And, of course, all fail to address the constraint on God.

Nope, none of these (frankly) were even close.

I like Matthew Henry's commentary best. Sometimes, you just don't know and when it is all supposition anyway, I will err on the side of God's revealed nature in Christ and presuppose from a loving, just viewpoint.

...and just for your benefit, I will reiterate to give you a clean snip...

Sometimes, you just don't know.

It still does not invalidate my OP.
