Are there any funny bits in the Bible?
Do you think there are any legitimate jokes in the bible? It seems like people take it so seriously these days, but I wonder if there's stuff in there that was originally intended to make people laugh. Like the part about Balaam and the talking Donkey. I've often wondered if that was intended as a bit of a joke.

Isn't there something about god mooning someone in the OT?

Mark 16:17-18 (KJV)
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. God/Jesus must have got a few laughs out of this over the years/decades/centuries. :devil1: |

This is a recurring question here. The opinion seems to be that there were jokes in the Bible that got lost in translation. If you search the archives, you can find threads like:
Did Jesus use jokes and sarcasm? (Ann Coulter claim) Does God ever laugh in the Bible? funniest quote in the Bible |

I think that comes from the idea that no one could look on God's face and live. But God let Moses (or was it Ezekiel?) see his backside, so I guess you could say God mooned someone.
There's also a bit in Genesis where God warns Adam and Eve to cover up their crap, so God won't step in it if he's out taking a walk on a nice evening. As to specifics, you could always look it up. |

As far as the OP, yes there are lots of funny things in the Bible, but the funniest things aren't in it but what the believers and eggheads that "seriously" study the fairy tales in the Bible try to tell us what it means. Oh well I guess you gotta make a living the best way you can. |

How about Elijah mocking the prophets of Baal?
