Default Codex Question

Is a papyrus codex written on both sides of the page?

What about a vellum codex?

What are some actual sizes, in terms of letters per page side, of a codex page?

best wishes,
Peter Kirby

You will find photos of plenty on the net if you want to get counting. I expect the answers is depends on the size of the codex and the scribes handwriting.
