Default I can find a moral to any story

Try me.

(This is in response to a remark in another thread by Helpmabob about how there's a moral to Jesus cursing the fig tree or something. I forget now.)

Of course. Humans are very adept at making up bullshit. However, does this really belong here?

Huckleberry Finn.

(Hint, read the foreword.)

If we tie it to the bible, it belongs here. And there's many a moral in that old book.

I spend hours every night on:
The descendants of Gad by their clans were: through Zephon, the Zephonite Clan; through Haggi, the Haggite clan; through Shuni, the Shunite clan.

And that's just the beginning. Numbers are full of morals, or is it morale?

The begats are great for morals, too.

Good point. This may be moved whither the mods may choose.

It is an offshoot of an BC&H thread, is why I put it here.

I await Helpmabob to awaken to the new English day, and provide a story to which I am unable to produce a moral, thus proving his point--or what I think is his point.

C'mon! That ain't even a story.

But if you want a moral, I'll come up with something.

Just because it's gibberish, as much of the bible is, that doesn't mean there isn't a hidden meaning there. Maybe if we substitute numbers for letters, something will jump out at us.

The moral of:

The descendants of Gad by their clans were: through Zephon, the Zephonite Clan; through Haggi, the Haggite clan; through Shuni, the Shunite clan.

is

you can't tell a clan by its color, you have to know its ancestor.

or

a clan by any other name is always a clan.

or

you can't tell a clan without a program.

or

there must be a moral buried here, so god exists.

We must be reasonable. There is no fiction forum afterall. But if it must be moved, perhaps then to a christian site.

And Shuni became linguistically garbled over time, rendering the present pronunciation of "Sunni," thus proving Saddam's people have legitimate claim to the Promised Land.

Yes. Clearly, the overarching moral here is "always use protection."

Hello  great screen name

Nothing to rally add to the discussion but since context is the key ... It is (IMO) that even a listing of genology yeilds a message and moral ... If I reference Josuua 4:20 - 24 ... it is apparent that the memory of fore-fathers are like memorial stones to the hand of god preserving our lineage ... see that wasn't hard ... :Cheeky:
