Post The Daily Redoubt: Your Refuge for Religious News

It's another day in the fast-paced world of big religion. The Tao is up 3 points, investors are bullish about small cap modern day Mithraism, and the blue chip stock symbol RCC has stabilized its trading since the announcement of Judas Ink last week. In cybernews, for an undisclosed amount, the ErrancyWiki has been flipped by Peter Kirby and turned over to venture capitalist Joe Wallack, who is now faced with the task of putting the Internet startup in the black. Which, as everyone on the Street knows, means having more suckers buying what you put out than the other guys. Whether the ErrancyWiki succeeds in becoming intellectually profitable is "both promise and challenge" according to a spokesman for the site. "We have a roadmap that will take us to the Promised level of discussion for the wiki. That's more than Moses could say, and look how well he did!" We at The Daily Redoubt news headquarters wish them the best of luck. And, now, a word from our sponsor, Unitarian Express: "The one god you'll ever need."

The meaning of the message is that Joe Wallack is now in charge of ErrancyWiki.

As to its past and prospects, why don't people here comment? The site has been up for a few months.

regards,
Peter Kirby

One of the big problems I see with the ErrancyWiki is that it is organized by chapter and verse. This is a problem because errors usually occur in blocks of verses, rather than an isolated verse. It also makes problems when dealing with internal contradictions. If Foo 1:4 contradicts Bar 3:7, where do I document the contradiction, the page for Foo 1:4, the page for Bar 3:7, or both? Organizing by topic would be a much better choice.

And don't forget that Madonna/Kabbalah is up 3 points. Scientology also up in heavy trading.

Incidentally, what's happening in sports? Are the Zealots still undefeated in monkey-ball?

In other news, Peter Kirby will now be an admin and moderator at Ancient Mediterranean Cultures forums. I'm looking forward to working with Chris Weimer on the forum, the HJ discussion, and more.

Any comments on the HJ discussion? The scope is (in actuality) nothing less than Christian origins, generally speaking.

regards,
Peter Kirby

I figured after CEO of Scientology Thomas Cruise was put on trial for trying to kill Entrepeneur Oprah Winfrey that Scientology would fall faster than Isaac Hayes from South Park. I appear wrong.

Both. I recommend writing the main article on one of those pages and posting a one-sentence summary and link on the other.

Yes, it can be difficult to navigate around and find (for instance) a certain kind of error or contradiction that you're particularly interested in. It could probably use a few handy-reference pages, like (for instance) "How many gods? Polytheism/henotheism/monotheism in the Bible", with an overview of the situation and links to the relevant verse pages.

There are some pages of this nature already, like Mary Magdalene and the resurrection, that are no longer attached to a specific verse. Pages like Jude 1:14 (which gives an overview of Biblical references to the Firmament dome) could be given similar treatment, I suppose.

Default King Dave's Top Seven reasons JoeWallack is not Satan

JW:
Just in case anyone thinks it's Possible that Peter (and this isn't just any Peter) Anointing Joseph to Ascend the Kingship of the Errancy Bible on Easter has some Supernatural significance, I present:

From our Home Temple in Jerusalem, King Dave's Top Seven reasons JoeWallack is not Satan:

7) Looks ridiculous with goatee and red tights.

6) Would leave no time for far more important job of filling Internet
Infidels with silly, irreverent and especially wacky posts.

5) Tired of bridge partner Hitler constantly over bidding.

4) During negotiations with God, held out for escape clause in
contract just in case Angels fail to resign Vlad.

3) Thinks Tom DeLay is already doing a fine job.

2) Well short of minimum height requirement of eight feet.

1) satan is a fictional character in the Tanakh, "created" for the
purpose of teaching us moral and ethical lessons. Non-Jewish
religions have transformed satan into something supposedly real
for the purpose of scaring and thereby controlling people. As
satan is not real, neither JoeWallack, nor the Skipper, nor Kasey
Kasem, nor somebody's boss, nor anyone else is really satan.

Joseph (hee, heee!)
