I don't why you would make such a claim when anyone can read the thread and see it is clearly untrue.

When all was said and done, the fact is simple, no real argument against country of the Gadarenes on the Kinneret, lots of scholarship references for.
Why do you persist in misstating the actual support of the evidence? You presented ZERO evidence to support coastal territory and one future book/article by Nun that claims to offer it. You offered several similarly faith-based speculations. Your entire approach is backwards by assuming the claim then looking for contrary evidence. When approached rationally and logically (ie requiring the claim to be supported by evidence before accepting it) the conclusion is, at best, agnostic. There is, at present and based on your argument, no real evidence for a country of the Gadarenes on the Kinneret.

However, you added the running, the Mark and Luke says they fled.... Now, now.. be accurate.
Please. These guys just watched their pigs get possessed by demons and be driven into the sea. They were pissed off at the magician who had done it and "fled" to the city to tell everyone. Does it make any sense, given that context, to assume they were casually walking to do so?

We really need to stop this tangent. If you think you have anything substantive to add to the original discussion, revive that thread. Let's keep this one at least on the subject of Jesus' tomb.

There were other book quotes referenced. (so soon you ferget, ehh?). Even the map that was offered by Diogenes has the Decapolis region (a large city-state) of Gadara on the coast! Mendel, since he is actually promoting Gergesenes instead, is simply a cake icing.

Honestly I dunno if your beef is with the region going to the coast, or simply that the Decapolis region of Gadara would be called "the country of the Gadarenes" by Mark and Luke.

Your losing the thread. If they fled, they would start running. Doesn't mean they would run six miles, however.

I'll try to go to the other thread motzei shabbat.

That is, even if they were running to Gadara rather than a local coastal city in the region :-)

Tis a real irony.

The demons recognized who is Jesus "Son of God" (Messiah) clearer than our posters ! :-)

Cool.

Does this mean you're going to address the 100% metallic objects that Ron Wyatt (and you, by proxy) claims are Egyptian chariot wheels?

Hmm?

Maybe that's because demons and Jesus are both make-believe while "our posters" are real?

Hobbit Salami!! :-)

There may be a parallel in Philo of Alexandria's work against Flaccus
Quote:
I have known instances before now of men who had been crucified when this festival and holiday was at hand, being taken down and given up to their relations, in order to receive the honours of sepulture, and to enjoy such observances as are due to the dead; for it used to be considered, that even the dead ought to derive some enjoyment from the natal festival of a good emperor, and also that the sacred character of the festival ought to be regarded.

IMO, the fact that they were allowed burial specifically because of the birthday of the emperor tends to reduce the actual parallel but it does support the general notion that exceptions were sometimes made.

There was no tomb in the first place. Why? Because Jesus was never even buried in a tomb. The Gospels are largely fiction. How do we know Jesus was never even buried in a tomb? Because it does not fit with what is known about Roman history. It was common practice for the Romans to let bodies of people crucified hang there for days and let the body slowly rot away. The Romans did this to intimidate and remind people of the penalty for not following Roman authority.

Christian apologetics are like taking stories about Superman and arguing that Superman really did all those things because of all the "eyewitnesses" who claim to have seen him in the Superman stories.

Christian Mythology is so silly :Cheeky:
