Slavery is evil. By saying it's not so bad, I think it's reasonable to say one is supporting evil. I see no one has an actual argument here, so my statements stand.

Slavery is good as long as it is done properly. The bible calls us slaves of Christ. I see that as very good.

It is only when slave owners were mean to their slaves that it is very bad. The apostle Paul never condemned slavery but encouraged the slaves to work for their masters as unto the Lord. But he told the slave owners in the church to not be too hard on their slaves but to treat them as a brother in the Lord.

So it's OK to treat a human being as a piece of property that can be owned, as long as you feed them and keep them out of the rain? You think it's acceptable for a human being to be equal to an ox that is used to plow fields, or a horse that is used to pull a carriage? If that is the case, then you are no better than the devil you fear.

Of couse I believe it is good as long as it is done properly. Done properly the human is still worth more than an ox or a horse. Why do you say they are not if slavery is good? Why is it that if a slave is treated with respect, clothed, fed that this is no better than the devil? He enslaves people but gives only death. That's apples to oranges. They don't compare.

Paul, (not Paul2) condones slavery by his exhortation to accept it. Slavery is an unmitigated evil to the ideals of liberty and human dignity.
It is impossible to own a slave and to at the same time be a brother/sister to him/her.

But that is not really true. There are billions of people that live as slaves to their communist government and yet are treated with respect.

If you really think about it, you don't really have that many freedoms even in a democratic society. We are all slaves of either our wives, or our jobs or whatever. Tell you boss tomorrow he can take the job and shove it and see how much respect you get for throwing off the yoke.
