Biblical Interpretations... verses?
Lately I've been entertained by the string of preachers who come on campus and preach loudly to students. Sadly most students do nothing but feed the preachers' feelings of persecution by yelling names back. Some students do challenge the preacher, and it usually ends up with the preacher hurling insults back and/or adding their own spin on challenging biblical verses...
So, to get to my point... I read a lot about how it's forbidden to add 'elements' to a story in the Bible. Like saying that one of the Geneologies (Matt. vs. Luke) is Mary's geneology. Isn't that adding details that aren't originally written? But anyway, information I want is the verses in the bible that forbid the adding on of information or text to the Bible. I'd appreciate it. |

Re: Biblical Interpretations... verses?
That is probably from Revelations 22:18-19 and reads as follows: "If anyone adds to these words, God will visit him with all the plagues described herein! If anyone takes from the words of this prophetic book, God will take away his share in the tree of life and the holy city described here!

I thank you for that verse, but I thought there were other, more specific verses that condemn the addition of any non-written information or adding books of your own.
Any takers? Again, I appreciate the help. |

But if you confront the preacher with those verses, he'll claim that what he's doing is "explaining" the verses, not adding to scripture.
