Endangered Species?
This morning I heard an article on Radio 4’s Sunday program about the plight of the Samaritans - I hadn’t realized that they still existed today, outside of the Bible! They are an early off-shoot from Judaism, descended from those Jews who were not deported during the Babylonian exodus.
They are down to about 600 in number, in two communities one in Nabulus (West Bank) and one in Holon (Israel). They are not allowed to marry outside of the community and consequently have become very inbred, they are now allowing the men to marry outsiders but the women still have to marry into the community. At least with a ‘faith’ like this where you have to be ‘born into it’ there is no proselytizing. samaritans |

We could call these people the non Red Sea pedestrians, they have always seemed to be as popular as a pork chop in a synagogue with the official Red Sea pedestrians.

So, these Samaritans...would you say they're "good"?

I wouldn't say that any religion was necessarily good, but on the premise that any religion might contain some good people then there may well be a few good Samaritans still around today.
