Those who want to see a huge number of coins minted by the Nabatean kings Aretas can take a look here (type "Aretas" and make sure to click the option "new since ALL"). I personally own 3 coins from the reign of Aretas IV (not sure about the exact date though, as I don't read Nabatean).

That was the point of my thread The search for the historical Paul: was he ever in Damascus?

The Fool was a stock character in classical drama, actually a class of stock characters. Paul as a resident or citizen of the Roman empire in his days would have been familiar with these characters. See The Runaway Paul by Laurence L. Welborn, Harvard Theological Review, April, 1999 . . .

Sid Green relies on a partial interpolation of the passage. I was attempting to explain the passage as it stands in the text. I wonder whether Leidner would regard the passage as interpolated. It would be nice if his work were better developed.

best,

Leidner seems blissfully unaware of the possibility of interpolations.

It's a lovely site thanks.

However, it doesn't seem to have any coins for Aretas III although it has coins for both Aretas II and Aretas IV.
