Default Index Vaticanus Librorum Prohibitorum - English Translation?

Does anyone know of an English translation
of the Librorum Prohibitorum?

There is a database at http://www.beaconforfreedom.org but this
only displays ten items at a time (out of 4,000 odd).

Stanford has a reasonable coverage from 1557-1966.

What happened before that?

I wonder if they actually kept lists in the fourth century
(or later) of "heretical works" which were to be placed
on a very real Index_Librorum_Prohibitorum - HIT-LIST?

I am tempted to extend the history of the
Index_Librorum_Prohibitorum from the fourth
century (Eusebius) through the fifth and sixth,
and in fact a start on this index has been
already made at this page entitled:

Knowledge Burning by the 4th Century Christians

Mainstreamers may like to have a Pre-Nicene Epoch,
and list the pre-Eusebian "Heretical writings" and
their authors, such as Celsus, Marcion et al.

Research students in the field of ancient history
are encouraged to approach me via PM should
they wish to contribute in this research project.

Best wishes,

What's the point of this? What do you hope to prove?

The first Roman "Index of Prohibited Books" (Index librorum prohibitorum), published in 1559 under Paul IV...

Catholic Encyclopedia, look at "Index".

Hi Toto,

The indexes contain many books the titles of which
are available in French or Latin. I would like to be
able to peruse the English titles of books which were
banned by the church. Out of interest.

Best wishes,
